Sometimes, you’ll have an issue with your motorcycle that you can easily figure out and address in a few minutes. But other times, you may not know exactly what’s happening or why. Here are some of the most common issues that people have with their motorcycles, along with strategies to fix them.

Your Engine Doesn’t Start

If your engine doesn’t start, you should first check the kill switch to ensure that it isn’t engaged. If not, use a multimeter to check your battery voltage. Failing that, you might be out of gas or you may have a clogged fuel injector that requires cleaning.

Your Bike is Sluggish

If your motorcycle doesn’t operate as it should, and you’re experiencing problems like rough acceleration or a misfiring engine or strange odors or sounds, a broken or faulty spark plug may be what’s causing the problem. Check your bike’s spark plugs (most motorcycles have anywhere from four to six of them) to make sure they’re still whole and don’t need cleaning or adjusting.

Your Motorcycle Vibrates

If you’re feeling strong vibrations while you ride, you may need to tighten your motorcycle’s bolts with a wrench. Ensure that your tires are also in good shape and that the wheels can spin freely.
